Bantwal, Feb 11: District in-charge and state Muzrai minister Kota Srinivas Poojary visited Nandavara Vinayaka Shankernarayana Durgamba temple on Tuesday and gave details of mass weddings planned in the temple by Mujrai department on May 24 later this year.
He said that the Muzrai department has planned mass weddings in selected 100 temples and there is widespread support for them. “Though the brides and grooms are less this time, it will be an excellent scheme in future. Those who want to get married in humble manner are welcome. The weddings will be held on April 26 and May 24. Saptapadi chariot trip is set in motion to create awareness. March 27 is the last date for registration. Dr D Veerendra Heggade has consented to be present and bless the couples,” he said.
“E-management will be implemented to speed up development in the temple. Plans will be implemented for the progress of women and the needy. There is a proposal for direct road to Nandavara temple from Panemangalore. The former MLA Ramanath Rai had sent a proposal for Rs 6.4 crore from PWD to the department of tourism. Current MLA Rajesh Naik has sent a proposal for Rs seven crores,” said management committee president A C Bhandary and requested to look into the matter.
Chief temple manager Harischandra, state Balabhavana society former president Sulochana G K Bhat, management committee members and religious leaders were present.
