Kundapur, Feb 11: Though the demand for a new train for the people in the coastal region is fulfilled, the railway traveller’s welfare committee in the meeting held in Hubballi railway zone objected to the differences in its timetable.

The railway state minister Suresh Angadi had announced the train from Vasco via Karwar, Kumta, Kundapur, Udupi, Surathkal, Padil, Subrahmanya and Kunil to Bengaluru. As there were objections towards the timings, the southwest railway zone had invited the committee members for a meeting.

Southwest zone chief executive of the railways, R K Singh and controller Harishanker Varma explained certain technical problems. The officials assured that the train will leave Bengaluru at 6.45 pm, reach Udupi at 4.50 am, 5.15 am at Kundapur and 10.30 am at Vasco. It will leave Vasco at 4.40 pm, reach Kundapur at 10.55 pm, Udupi at 11.25 pm and Bengaluru at 9 am. The officials said that the timings will still be made more convenient. The old Bengaluru Karwar train will run as per the old schedule. “The two trains will be convenient for the people,” said president Ganesh Putran.

President Ganesh Putran, secretary Praveen, convener Vivek Nayak, Gautham Shetty, Uttara Kannada committee and Konkan railway advisory committee member Rajiv Gaunker, members Dharma Prakash and Joy Coelho were present.

The committee thanked MP Sobha Karandlaje, minister Suresh Angadi, state Mujrai minister Kota Srinivas Poojary, former MP Jayaprakash Hegde, minister Prahlad Joshi, Kumta MLA Dinaker Shetty and MP Anant Kumar Hegde for their collective efforts.
