Mangaluru, Feb 11: The NSS units of St Agnes College, here organized an inter-collegiate competition 'Aakrithi'. Two competitions were held namely 'Abhinaya' (street play) and 'Jhenkara' (group song).
NSS volunteers from seven different colleges participated in the competition each team comprising of ten students.
The programme commenced at 1.15 pm, by invoking God’s blessings. Sr Dr Maria Roopa AC (joint secretary, St Agnes College, Mangaluru) was the chief guest of the programme.
Dr Nagarathna (NSS co-ordinator, Mangalore University) was the guest of honour. Sr Dr M Jeswina AC (principal, St Agnes College) presided over the programme which was inaugurated by lighting a lamp by the dignitaries.
Dr Nagarathna addressed the gathering and appreciated the activities done by the NSS volunteers during the year 2019-2020. He also congratulated the faculty members and students of St Agnes College for organizing the intercollegiate competitions and providing an opportunity for the NSS students of other colleges to showcase their talents.
The event ended with a valedictory programme. NSS student secretary, Shreenavya announced the names of the winners and trophies were distributed to the winners by Charles Pais, registrar, St Agnes College, the chief guest for the valedictory programme.
The first place for the 'Street play' and 'Bhavageethe' was bagged by the students from Govindasa College, Surathkal. The second place for the street play was bagged by Canara College, Mangaluru and Bhavgeethe by Ramakrishna College, Mangaluru.
The programme ended by singing the NSS anthem song.
