Bangalore, Oct 23: By announcing that he will voluntarily take part in the delegation of the Congressmen that will be meeting the Prime Minister to present the state’s case for higher flood relief funds, Chief Minister Yeddyurappa has caused an unexpected discomfiture for the state Congress Party leaders.
Speaking to reporters at his home office, ‘Krishna’ here, after holding discussions about the rehabilitation of the flood-affected people with the industrialists on Thursday October 22, he said that it is his duty, as the Chief Minister of the state, to be a part of the delegation, irrespective of which political party is leading it.
“I welcome the move of the Congress Party leaders to lead a delegation to the Prime Minister for seeking additional funds for flood relief works in the state. My only objective is to get as much assistance as we can, from the central government, for this purpose,” he said, in an apparent retort to the state Congress leaders, who had earlier boycotted a delegation led by him to New Delhi.
