Bengaluru, Feb 11: The suspense over the allocation of portfolios to the newly inducted ministers has finally ended. Ramesh Jarkiholi, who was insistent on getting water resources ministry which was with D K Shivakumar in the past, and Dr Sudhakar, who had sought medical education portfolio, have got what they wanted.
The ministers who were administered oath had not been given any departments immediately. Even though Ramesh Jarkiholi had said that Shivakumar's entry into Belagavi had inspired him to revolt, he had not publicly said anything about which department he wanted. There were rumours that he was hell bent on getting water resources ministry. It is said that when he had asked the chief minster to allot him the water resources department, he was not given any concrete promise and therefore he chose to remain silent. It is said that Yediyurappa had taken up the demand of Jarkiholi with the high command, and it was agreed to meet his demand, as the other demand of making deputy chief minister was not heeded.
Bengaluru development, which the chief minister has chosen to retain with himself, and home department which has remained with Basavaraj Bommai, have not been given to the new ministers.
