Mangaluru: Canadian resident assault – Contradictory details emerge

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (SB)

Mangaluru, Feb 10: The allegations made against police authorities, management of a private hotel in the city and public, by Manoj Prabhu, who lives in Canada and had come down to his hometown, have reportedly turned out to be false and fabricated, just after a day of the incident.

After reading the news, many eyewitnesses came forward with recorded video footages stating another side of the story. The videos purportedly show Manoj Prabhu allegedly abusing the police and the group of people. The video also shows police and the public repeatedly requesting him to stay calm and police were patiently listening to his complaints. But he did not listen.

Public reportedly noticed that Manoj was drunk to the core and was creating nuisance outside the hotel in the night.

“Mangaluru police is known as the guardians of people. By calling the police ‘goon’ and all sorts of names and abusing them is an attempt to bring down the morale of the protectors of the society. So here is an appeal to everyone to watch the video and witness the behaviour of the so called ‘victim’. The police in fact took the right step taking him to station for his abusive behaviour and uncivil conduct,” said a person, who has recorded these videos and wants to remain anonymous.

As per sources, Manoj reportedly had a verbal fight with the cops at police station. He was treated in a good manner by providing one glass of water but he had a audacity to throw that water on the face of the cops. In the video, the police personnel can be seen repeatedly requesting Manoj to give written complaint to take further action. But he continues to show abusive signs to the cops.

It may be recalled, in a Facebook post, Manoj Prabhu had claimed alleged that the police and public had assaulted him. He said that he had come down from Canada to his hometown Mangaluru to participate in a community festival as well as to attend to his ailing father. He further said that on February 2, he and other family members dined out. At around 11 pm, while the others went home, Prabhu took an auto rickshaw and on the way stopped at a hotel in Kodialbail in order to get a takeaway late night snack, he said.

As per Manoj, while he was at the cafe in the hotel, of which he had been a regular customer, Prabhu decided to step out for a while to smoke a cigarette. Realizing that he had forgotten his lighter, he asked the waiter for one, but was told that the hotel did not keep lighters as smoking was prohibited inside. He then asked a group of three, who said they did not smoke. He next approached a group of 8 to 10 men, but instead of politely turning him down, the group allegedly started abusing him with foul words. Prabhu said that he apologized to the group and left.

Prabhu also alleged that the cops, who arrived, also started abusing him. The hotel manager had in the meanwhile called the cops. Prabhu alleged that he was forcibly lifted into the boot of the PCR van and some of the cops and others who were around started kicking and beating him up again with sticks and bare hands.

I surely knew his story was false but i did not comment earlier. No group would just go and attack him for asking a cigarate lighter. Shame on him for posting such a story on Facebook and approaching Daiji to publish wrong story news.

He probably wanted to claim insurance or put a claim for injuries suffered whilst overseas. These guys bring a bad name to our country by coming up with false propaganda. Just send him back to where he came from.

He is just Permanent resident & as the description says he is staying in Canada for short span which shows he has not changed his mentality. Better he changes his attitude before sent Canada otherwise he will end in correction centre

@Cynthi Kirem, dear Cythi ,you are asking whats the remedy for his Canadian attitude?I just want to say its indian attitude, since he is a indian origin.Canadian by Pass,One should change his attitude by acting simply adjust to the atmosphere where you are.Dont act as an Foreigner in your own land.Too much drinking and smoking harms your health and atmosphere.Invites unwanted problems and come in contact with police and legal acts which may end behind bars.Thats really sad.

Good Job News Team & the recorder. Saw the video and for the foul language, he deserves the beating. He openly tells in the video that he doesn't listen to his father and what police can do. Ban him from visiting Canada.

I expected that he be over drunk and creating ruckus in uncivilized manner with the people around there. Shameless fellow. Police can charge sheet him and impound his passport for further investigation. Canada return, his ego has showed him right lesson.

Is this Manoj Prabhu a member of BJP IT cell? How conveniently he tells a white lie. Perhaps he is aware that people of Mangalore are naive and fell easily to white lies.
