Puttur: Groups of students fight with each other - Six hospitalised

Puttur, Feb 10: In an incident which happened on Sunday February 9 inside the campus of Vivekananda College here, six persons got admitted into hospital. A case stands registered in the town police station here relating to the incident.

Those who were admitted into a private hospital here happen to be Yakub (50), a native of Chikkamagaluru who is currently resident of the city, his son Riza Hassan (16) who is a student of polytechnic college, and his brother Tasreef. Yakub got admitted into the government hospital here while the other two were admitted into a hospital in Mangaluru.

In the meanwhile, Satwik (18) from Vitla Mudnur, Akshat Shetty (18) from Vittal and Mukund (18) from Nekkilady got admitted into a private hospital here. They happen to be the students of the said school. They have accused some students of their college and a gang of youth from outside of having attacked them.

It is said that some students had attacked Riza Hassan on February 6. The attackers were angry at the fact that he had uploaded a scene of anti-Citizenship Amendment Act and National Register of Citizens protest held in Mangaluru in his social website account. Yakub said that he had visited the college along with his son Riza, to talk to the principal about this issue. He said that the students who had beaten up his son assaulted him, his son, and another person on this occasion.

Mukund said that Riza Hassan used to o pass comments about the girls of the college and that a complaint in this connection had been made to the principal. Later, Riza Hassan had posted threat to the students on Instagram account. He said that when he was returning from play ground on February 8, Riza and four other young men had assaulted him.

Both the complaints have been registered in the town police station here for crowding, posting threats, attack etc.

    Whether students are coming to College for fighting or for studies. What parents are doing. The children should be adviced properly by the parents. At a later date both wil be the sufferers.

    Earlier, Vivekananda College in Puttur was known in the state as a very decent College. With the increase in numbers of students from one section of the society, its losing all its glory!!
