Mangaluru, Feb 10: After hot weather prevailed during the early weeks of winter, since the last several days, people from the twin-districts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi have been experiencing cold weather for a change. For the first time in this season, minimum temperature here touched 19.3 degree Celsius on Sunday. This happens to be three degrees lower than the average temperature.
The rural places are experiencing windy and chilly conditions since some days. The highest temperature reached 34.3 degree Celsius in the city on Sunday. In Udupi, minimum temperature recorded on Sunday was 19 degrees and maximum temperature stood at 33 degrees. In Sullia, minimum temperature touched 18 degrees.
Kodagu district has been going through fiercely chilly weather. Madikeri on Sunday experienced 10.1 degrees minimum temperature. The meteorological department expects this to fall further in the coming days. Agumbe recorded 11.4 degree Celsius minimum temperature on Sunday.
The department says the current pattern of climate will continue for three to four days more with the expected minimum temperature in the city hovering around 20 degrees. By February 13 the temperature might further drop down to 19 degrees, as per the department's forecast.
