Udupi, Feb 9: Skeletal remains of a man were found hanging from the branch of a Bogie tree near Oasis hall at Hiriadka in the district.
According to the case filed in this regard by complainant Prasanna Rao (50), a resident of Anjaru in the Hiridyadka police station, he found the skeleton of a man hanging on the Bogie tree in his cashew farmland as a strong foul smell made the complainant go and check for the same.
In his complaint Prasanna Rao stated that he went to his cashew farmland as he could smell some foul odour emanating from there. He noticed the body of a man hanging from the branch of a tree with a nylon rope. The body was completely decomposed and only the skeleton was remaining.
"The body had only shirt on it and the black trousers were found at a little distance away from the body. A black bag was also found at a distance of about 15 meters from the body," states the complaint.
The deceased was identified as Rajesh Devadiga (38), a resident of Beladi. The identity was established from identity cards found in his bag which was lying nearby. A wallet and other personal belongings were also found in the bag.
As the body was found hanging from the tree, it is suspected that Rajesh might have committed suicide.
Hiriadka police have registered a case in this regard. Further investigation is on.
