Karwar, Feb 8: The police here arrested two foreign nationals, duly accusing them of diverting attention of a businessman and committing theft. They have been identified as Mehraj and Hadi from Iran.

The two had arrived at New Delhi on tourist visa on December 26. They had rented a car for the stated purpose of touring the country. On January 6, they had visited Ratangarh town in Churu district, Rajasthan. During this visit, they had expressed with a merchant their desire to look at Indian currency notes. When the businessman showed them currency notes with face value of Rs 2,000 and 500, they handled the notes in the guise of checking them, diverted his attention, and fled with the notes. A complaint about cheating and theft of Rs 50,000 was registered in Ratangarh police station.

After they arrived at Karwar on February 2 and stayed in a lodge, the local police arrested them and handed them over to the Rajastan police.
