Bengaluru, Feb 8: A campaign chariot has been designed to undertake publicity for the ambitious scheme of simple mass marriages envisaged by the state government through a scheme titled 'Saptapadi'. The first of such chariots under the scheme will be flagged off from Kollur Goddess Mookambika temple.
Muzrai minster, Kota Srinivas Poojary said that the chariots will begin their journeys from ten leading temples in the state. He said that the main aim of these vehicles will be to spread awareness about the said scheme. The minister was addressing a press conference at Vikasa Soudha here on Friday, February 7.

"The publicity campaign will be flagged off at Kollur temple on February 13. In association with the department of information, information about the scheme will be spread far and wide with the help of 750 publicity placards," the minister added. He said that on April 26, mass marriages will be performed in 100 muzrai temples all over the state. He also said that a toll free telephone number, 18004256654, has been set up to enable people to get information about the scheme.
The minster also said that in districts where temples categorized as 'A' based on their incomes do not exist, the concerned have been instructed to organize mass marriages in 'B' or 'C' category temples.
