Udupi, Feb 7: “The last date for extracting of sand in CRZ limits in the district is over. Four metric tonne sand is extracted and distributed during the period. Transportation of sand outside the district was not allowed. But there are chances of the sand illegally stored without distribution. The officials have been asked to identify those who have stored sand and register criminal cases against them,” said deputy commissioner G Jagadeesha.
Speaking in the news conference held in DC’s office on Friday he said that the information relating to sand loaded vehicles, those which have left stock yard and the areas in which sand is distributed is being tracked by GPS installed to transport vehicles. “Stern action will be taken against those who store sand illegally,” warned deputy commissioner G Jagadeesha.
“A proposal to extract four metric tonne sand through KCZMA is sent for approval which is expected soon. Sand distribution will begin after getting the approval,” he said.
