Mangaluru, Feb 7: Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has been turning more and more women-friendly. In the city bus stand here, sanitary napkins are available for five rupees a piece. This facility has been extended in ten KSRTC bus stands in the state.
Napkin dispenser and incinerator for used napkins have been installed inside the women's toilet and women have been making use of this facility.
The machine has a capacity to store 100 napkins at a time. Housekeeping people maintain stock and replace stock as and when exhausted.

There are two machines, one for dispensing the napkins, and another, for burning used napkins. People can obtain napkins by inserting five rupee coins. Instruction about inserting the coin and obtaining napkin has been provided near the machines. The people can get more information if necessary from housekeeping staff, the corporation said.
KSRTC managing director Shivayogi S Kalasad, said that there are plans to extend this facility even to taluk level bus stands as this facility has received good response from women passengers.
