Mangaluru: ‘kittall.com’ online newspaper celebrates tenth anniversary

Mangaluru, Feb 4: ‘kittall.com’ online newspaper of well-known poet, story-writer, critic and editor-in-chief H M Pernal completed nine years and is stepping into its tenth year. A programme will be set in motion to celebrate the feat at Sandesh Bhavan, Nanthoor on Wednesday February 5 at 4 pm.

Vishwa Konkani Kendra president Basti Vaman Shenoy and Sahitya Academy awardee poet Melvyn Rodrigues will unveil the logo of the tenth year. A discussion forum of small stories will be held with well known Konkani and English story-writer, Prof Dr Zita Lobo after unveiling the logo.

Kittal online Konkani newspaper inaugurated by popular Konkani poet Melvyn Rodrigues on February 5, 2011 is the only newspaper dedicated to Konkani. It consists of about a lac pages of small stories, poems, essays, literature and videos related to art and news besides information about Konkani authors. The pages on literature and introduction of authors are being used by students of literature and research as subjects of study.

Kittall holds competitions on literature now and then to encourage writers. It identifies talented authors every year and hands over a prize of Rs 25,000 sponsored by Leo Rodrigues, non-resident Indian in Abu Dhabi. Well known author and poet Wilson Kateel is the co-editor of Kittall online newspaper. Thinker Titus Noronha is the president of Kittall youth award committee.
