Bidar, Feb 2: After the management of Shaheen Primary and High School was booked for staging an anti-CAA and NRC play, the Bidar police on Saturday February 1 questioned 60 students on the contents of the play and what they understood after watching the same.
The questioning began at 12 pm and ended at 4 pm. The students who were questioned were between ages 9 and 12.
According to the police, the play which was staged on Republic Day showed Prime Minister Narendra Modi in poor light and derogatory words were used against him. The play allegedly imparted the message that if anyone comes asking for documents, they should be 'driven away with slippers'.
AIMIM chief Owaisi holds discussion with SP
All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi held a discussion with district superintendent of police (SP) T Sridhar on the issue of registering a sedition case with respect to the derogatory statements against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, that were alleged to be made in the anti-CAA drama that was performed by the students of the school.
Owaisi met the SP along with the leaders of AIMIM of the district and urged the SP to register the case in accordance with the law and also change the sections of the IPC under which the case has been slapped against Shaheen educational institutions and its chief.
Responding to Owaisi's request, SP Sridhar said that the case was registered under appropriate provisions of the law and investigations is in progress.
The headmistress of the school as well as the mother of girl student who was in the anti-CAA drama presented in the school have already been arrested by the police in this connection and they are in judicial custody now. In addition, notice has been served to all the members of the administrative committee of the institution, which is facing accusation of sedition.
