Beltangady: Theft during broad daylight - Family loses cash, jewellery

Beltangady, Jan 31: Gold ornaments and cash worth lacs of rupees were stolen during the day from a house in Kapinadka near Aladangady, Venoor.

The thieves stole the valuables from inside the house of Dayanand, living at Kapinadka, by breaking open the front door lock. They took away 14 sovereigns of gold ornaments including Karimani chain, and Rs 10,000 in cash. In addition, black pepper that was stored for selling was also stolen. Dayanand was away working as coolie while his wife Geetha, who had visited Balanja panchayat then, realized that the house was burgled on her return.

A complaint was filed in Venoor police station. Beltangady police circle inspector Sandesh P G, who visited the spot, scrutinized the crime scene. He also checked CCTV camera nearby. The police found that the thieves had broken open a steel almirah and a table inside Dayanand's house and stolen the valuables kept inside. The police said that they have information that three persons who came on a motorbike between 12.45 and 1.30 pm had committed this theft.

The police said that they have information about the thieves involved and expressed the confidence of arresting them soon.

A case was registered in Beltangady police station. Police circle inspector said that they have got clue about the thieves, and expressed the confidence of nabbing the thieves soon.
