Moodbidri: Peace Day celebrated at Carmel School

Moodbidri, Jan 30: Peace Day was observed at Carmel School, here on Thursday January 30.

Sandesh D’Souza, CPI, Beltangady, graced the occasion as chief guest. The event commenced with a prayer service invoking the blessings of the Almighty for peace and harmony by the students of VA and IX.

On warmly welcoming the chief guest, the school principal, Sr Jyothi Saldanha and the gathering a welcome dance by the students of VA and VB followed. Niyathi of class VII briefed upon the significance of the day by saying it is the day when Mahatma Gandhi, the man who fought peacefully won independence for India. Each year we celebrate Peace Day to recognize the efforts of those who have worked hard to end conflict and promote peace. The students of class III A and III B thrilled the audience with a dance on messenger of peace. A Skit on non-violence was enacted by class IV A and IV B. The students of class II A and II B danced to a touching song on humanity.



Addressing the gathering, Sandesh highlighted that peace means a world of happiness and harmony. He presented a meaningful message on the life of Mahatma Gandhi and urged everyone to initiate the values taught by Gandhi like unity, love, tolerance and non-violence, so that everyone becomes an instrument of peace in their homes and surroundings.

On the occasion, the tiny tots were honoured for their talents in the various competitions, students who participated in the various activities outside school were honoured by the chief guest.

The programme was compered by Angel, Rowan, Dheeraj and Uvel of class VA.

The event ended with a vote of thanks by Melisha from class VIII.
