Bengaluru: Cyclist covers 415 km in 40 hours from Bengaluru to Kundapur

Bengaluru, Jan 30: Meet Pramod Poojary, who works for 315 Work Avenue Company in Bengaluru and the admin department of World Kundapurian Facebook page.

He hails from Koni village, 4 km from Kundapur city. His interests are in spending his free time riding a bicycle which he has been doing for the last four years. Riding to his hometown was his dream.

Being a member of Finix Fitness Studio and Finix Cycling group, he has been a very active cyclist doing two rides every week. He has done 230km up and down from Bengaluru to Krishnagiri in 12 hours before accomplishing this ride exactly two years ago.

His gurus Prakash and Kamal taught and trained him on cycling tips. He first started cycling in 2016 when his uncle Ravindra brought him a second-hand MTB from his friend. Cycling with Prakash, Kamal and group he found that the cycle did not have enough speed for a long distance. He later upgraded to a road bike cycle and found increased speed and distance fulfilling his dream to ride to Kundapur. On January 24, he rode solo to his hometown setting off at 3.30 am and reaching Chikkamagaluru at 9 pm covering around 250 km.



The next day after a rest, he resumed cycling the next day at 7.30 am, passing by of Agumbe ghat and reaching Kundapur by 7.15 pm. In 40 hours he covered almost 415 km making him the first person to reach Kundapur from Bengaluru by cycle in 40 hours.

In 2013, a youngster named Ralph D'Mellon cycled from Mumbai to Kundapur covering 900 km in 10 days.
