Mangaluru: High court stays FIR against PFI president Mohammed Saqib

Mangaluru, Jan 30: The state high court on Wednesday January 29, granted interim stay for four weeks against the first information report (FIR) lodged at Kankanady police station here, against Mohammed Saqib, Karnataka state president of Popular Front of India. The stay will be valid for a period of four weeks.

The high court which took up the petition filed by Saqib seeks to quash the FIR order serving notice to complainant Raveendranath Rai.

The police, based on Rai's complaint had registered a case against Saqib under sections 153A, 353 and 504 of the Indian Penal Code pertaining to the delivery of provocative address.

Saqib has been accused of delivering inflammatory speech at the anti Citizenship Ammendmant Act rally organized in the city on December 19.
