Udupi, Jan 29: "Towards handling traffic problems experienced in the city including at the spot where national highway passes through the city, smart traffic junctions have been conceived. Latest cameras and signal lights will be installed at 15 points in the city and they are expected to ease traffic congestion," said local MLA K Raghupathi Bhat.
He was speaking after taking part in a programme of interaction held under the aegis of Consumers Forum and District Consumers Information Centre on Tuesday January 28.
Bhat said that the spots where the smart signals will come up include Balaipade, Ambalpady, Santhekatte and Kalsanka. "Each of these junctions cost Rs 30 lac. These signals will become functional within three months from now. Similar scheme has become successful in Pune," he explained.
