Udupi, Jan 29: Bahujan Kranti Morcha has called for a bandh on Wednesday, January 29 as a measure of protest against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) of the union government. Most of the shops and merchant establishments in the heart of the city have downed their shutters.
The merchants have voluntarily closed down their shops, in response to call for opposing the said act.

At the same time, a huge anti-CAA protest is being held in the city on Thursday January 30. This protest is being organized under the aegis of Sahabalve organization. Chandrashekhar Azad, president of Bhim Army, is set to take part in the protest rally.
Belapu in Kaup taluk too has shown total support for the bandh call. All kinds of activities have come to a standstill.
The bandh call has got positive response at Gangolli were most of the businesses have been close down. Even cars and auto rickshaws are not moving, and the response to the bandh call here has been spontaneous.
