Bengaluru, Jan 27: A software engineer has filed a complaint in Bommanahalli police station here, alleging that in the name of providing him an opportunity to 'socialize' with ladies from different countries, he was misled and cheated to the extent of four lac rupees by a self-claimed dating service.
On the basis of a complaint filed by the engineer, currently residing at Kodichikkanahalli here, a case has been registered against Shreya Sharma and Nisha Gupta. The first information report names these two who run a telemarketing company named Dating Friends and Chatting.
The complainant reportedly received call in the name of dating centre, informing that he would be able to have the company of female members of this company if he registers himself as a member. He was told that these meetings would be safe and secretive. He was asked to pay initial registration fee of Rs 2,000.
In a few days, he got a call from Shreya Sharma, who said hotel room has been booked, party has been arranged, and date has been fixed with a girl. Shreya told him that the total expenses would be two lac rupees including room charges, green card etc. After he transferred the money, there was no call. After two days, another lady, who said she was Nisha Gupta, said that the earlier dating has been postponed because of the health problems of the lady concerned. She said that the lady will call him later once the health problem is fixed. She said that if he wanted the service on the day fixed for him earlier, she herself would be happy to replace the said lady for which he has to meet two lac rupees expense. At the same time, she stated that he can avail of the services for the fee earlier paid, on another day. He sent two lac rupees more, after which Nisha's mobile phone went off.
After two more days, the techie received another call from the call centre, promising to provide all services for one lac rupees. The software engineer who realized that he was being fleeced, filed complaint. The police are now trying to find out the whereabouts of the cheaters.
