Udupi, Jan 27: Ruby Jubilee of Milagres English Medium Kindergarten School Kallianpur and Milagres Milana, a mega reunion of Milagrean family was celebrated with grandeur on Sunday, January 26.
Mathew C Ninan, director Little Rock Indian School, speaking on the occasion said, “I wish to congratulate these institutions for rendering selfless service during the last several decades. I have been associated with this institution for a number of years. I wish to pray for great future of the children. Good institutions are hope of our nation. I wish to congratulate all the teachers of this institutions.”
Speaking on the occasion, Raghupathi Bhat, MLA Udupi said, “Many students have got educated through this institution. The next celebration may be upon reaching the milestone of 50 years. We should be proud that we are in educational sector. Private intuitions with service as their motto are the main reason for this achievement. Quality of education needs to be good. Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts always lead in educational quality. Teachers of this district believe that teaching is a noble service. This should be carried on to the next generation also. I congratulate all the teachers who have served in this institution.”
Former minister, Pramod Madhwaraj, addressing the gathering, said. “This is a day to thank. All the Christian Missionary schools since decades have given education to our children and turned them into assets of today. Society thanks you all for brightening up our lives. We have acquired everything from these institutions.”
“Christian educational institutions along with imparting education have even imparted values to the lives of the students. Values help to one to lead a good life. Education without values is of no use,” said Janardhan Thonse, member Udupi ZP.
President of the function Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, bishop, diocese of Udupi, speaking on the occasion said, “Every nation has unique characteristics. Beginning of education is from mother’s womb. All schools foundation is kindergarten. It is very easy to mound a child’s mind. This will be the foundation for the future of the kid. Many have rendered their service for this institution. In future also let this school achieve great heights. With the intention of providing good English education to the local students this institution was started. Let this service continue forever.”
Entertainment programme performed by students was applauded by all.
Ruby Jubilee wall calendar was released by Pramodh Madhwaraj. Fr William Gonsalves, founder correspondent, inaugurated the alumni Facebook page KMEMA.
Fr William Gonsalves and retired teachers of the school were honoured on the occasion.
Fr Lawrence D’Souza, correspondent, Fr Lancy Fernandes, headmaster, VeeraD’Silva, in-charge headmistress, were honoured on the occasion for their selfless service.
The ruby jubilee year marked many activities for parents, teachers and students.
Musical evening by carol beat group and ‘Nage Habba’ comedy acts by renowned comedian Richard Louis and team entertained the audience.
