Mangalore, Oct 9: Rear admiral B R Rao, AVSM, NM, VSM, who had been functioning as the director general of the Seabird Project at Karwar, has been promoted to the rank of vice admiral of the Indian Navy.
Vice admiral B R Rao, who is a native of Mulky in Dakshina Kannada district, is one among the very few officers from Dakshina Kannada district to rise to this rank in the Indian armed forces. His elevation has come as a reward for his disciplined, meritorious service in the Indian Navy and has made his native place and the home district, proud of his achievement.
Upon his promotion, he has been reappointed as the chief hydrographer to the government of India.
Rao has been the recipient of the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal from the President of India on the Republic Day.
