Kalaburagi, Jan 26: In a shameful act, a poster of Dr B R Ambedkar was vandalised by miscreants on Republic Day at Hittalashiroor village near Nimbarga of Alanda taluk here.
The act was carried out in the intervening night between Saturday January 25 and January 26, sources said.
Cow dung was smeared on the poster and garlands made of sandals were put across it.
Villagers who were enraged by the shocking vandalism said that anti-social elements had insulted the architect of the Indian Constitution on an auspicious day like Republic Day.
A complaint in this regard has been filed by Ambaraya Dhoolappa, a local, at the Nimbarga police station.
On receiving the complaint, police visited the spot. A tense situation prevailed in the village and police have deployed security as a precautionary measure to ward off any untoward incidents.
