Mysuru, Jan 25: BJP national organizing secretary, B L Santhosh, stated that the central government, which is committed to implement Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), will begin the work of registration within the next 20 days.
Santhosh assured that there is nothing in the act that can instil a sense of fear among the citizens of the country. He also drove home the point that no one including the BJP can rob minorities of their citizenship rights.
At the same time, he turned his ire at the leftist parties and other opposition parties, accusing a section of the intelligentsia and some Muslims of indulging in malicious and preposterous publicity about the act with ulterior motive. He reiterated that Muslim citizens of India have nothing to be afraid of.
"We have repeatedly said that CAA does not apply to Indian Muslims. Who has sought documents or records from people like Nasiruddin Shah, C M Ibrahim Zameer Ahmed etc?" he wanted to know.
Santhosh said that the government is not worried about protests. He charged intelligentsia, ultra leftists etc of getting down to the field to indulge in false propaganda. They have been falsely claiming that facilities like Aadhar card have been withdrawn. The BJP is trying to create awareness by speaking to Muslim religious preachers all over the country. Once the registration under the act begins, everyone will come to know who the displaced people in our country are," he said.
