Bengaluru, Jan 25: The special court for people's representatives here, on Friday, January 24, ordered issuance of summons to BJP Karnataka state unit president and MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, and head of the party's social media unit, to appear in person at the above court on February 24. The court passed this order, after hearing a defamation case slapped on him by Congress MLA Rizwan Arshad. The case pertains to the allegation made through social websites that Rizwan Arshad had a hand in creating fake voter identity cards.
The defendants have been asked to come to the court and explain their positions over the said complaint. During the 2019 Lok Sabha election, BJP had alleged in its Twitter account that Rizwan had a hand in the manufacture of fake voter identity cards.
The above tweet was re-tweeted by several BJP leaders. The Tweet had said that youth Congress leader Kaleemullah Ibrahim, and 17 others had been arrested relating to this case and Congress candidate from Bengaluru central constituency Rizwan Arshad, had a role in the manufacture of fake voter identity cards.
Rizwan had filed defamation suit against state BJP chief Nalin Kumar Kateel, and head of state BJP social media.
