Mangaluru, Jan 24: After a long and tiresome wait, the latest pictures of Pumpwell flyover construction circulating on social media largely indicate that the project is near to completion and will get inaugurated on January 31.
After giving various technical, administration and financial reasons, Navayug Company, which was constructing the flyover, is now ready to hand over the project to National Highway Authority. Asphalting is in progress on both sides of the flyover. Now only painting and marking works look pending. It is learnt that National Highway Authority will do final inspection of the flyover at the earliest. Once the inspection is completed, the flyover will be open for public. As per sources, there is less chance of a formal inaugural event. MP Nalin Kumar Kateel is also not in favour of a grand inaugural event. According to his close aides, the flyover will be open for commuters by the end of this month and there will be a simple inauguration ceremony, similar to Thokkotu flyover.
Crossing more than 10 deadlines for completion and fixing dates of inauguration, the contractors failed to handover the project which led to a major embarrassment for MP Nalin who is the head of the project committee according to protocol. Netizens on social media celebrated every moment of delay in the construction of the flyover with trolls and memes.
The pictures of the almost completed flyover are all over social media. Netizens have already started to celebrate over the satisfaction of seeing their long-awaited dream come true.
