Kaup, Jan 22: Police from the town station here have succeeded in arresting a person who has been an accused in the theft of a number of two-wheelers over a period of time. The arrested accused happens to be Rajesh Naik alias Rajesh Pamidi (32), a native of Ananth Nagar, Manipal. The arrest was made on Monday January 20.
Five two-wheelers stolen by him from different areas were confiscated. On being produced in the court, he was remanded to 15 days judicial custody.
Rajesh, who currently lives in second cross, Jagath Nagar, Dharwad, was riding a stolen two-wheeler when he was caught by a police team that was inspecting vehicles at Udyavar check post.
It is said that Rajesh, by making use of duplicate keys, had stolen the two-wheelers from Jagathnagar, Dharwad, Durganagar in Indrali, Manipal, Vijaya Nagara in Alape, Mangaluru, Hosa Marigudi of Kaup and the Light House apartment, Kaup. The police said that he has also been accused of stealing donation box of Goddess Durgaparameshwari temple at Indrali, Manipal.
The operation was conducted by a team of policemen led by Kaup police sub-inspector Rajashekhar B Saganur, crime branch sub-inspector, Jaya K, and probationary sub-inspector Udayaravi, duly accompanied by other staff under the guidance and directions of senior police officers.
