Udupi: Writer Richie John Pais selected for Dr T M A Pai Award

Udupi, Jan 22: Manipal-based Dr T M A Foundation has announced Konkani works chosen for its annual awards for the year 2018.

Collection of Konkani short stories, 'Fathor' authored by Richie John Pais, has been selected for commendation award. This book, published in 2017, is in Kannada script. This book was published by Nia Publishers Pandeshwar Mangaluru.

The award carries cash component of Rs 10,000 apart from a citation.


Richie John Pais

Richie is also a poet, dramatist, and humourist, who authors in Konkani and English languages. His English literature too has been widely published. 'Fathor' is a short story collection consisting 11 stories exploring different themes including love, pain, psychology, law, physics, human bond etc.


Dr Pandurang Phaldesai

Another Konkani book, 'Gonyachya Lokavedache Saundarya Shastra', an essay on folklore beauty of Goa, written by Dr Pandurang Phaldesai from Alto Porvorim, Goa, has been picked for the 'best Konkani work' award for the year 2018.

This book, which is in Devanagari script, was published in 2017. It was published by Sasaya Pubishers, Porvorim, Goa. This award carried cash component of Rs 25,000 and citation.
