Karkala, Jan 21: The department of Electronics and Communication Engineering of NMAM Institute of Technology, Nitte in association with Texas Instruments University programme and IIT Roorkee under the aegis of SPARC, MHRD, Government of India supported by Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology, Government of India had organized a five-day Faculty Development Program (FDP) on 'Embedded Systems and Wireless Sensor Networks for Internet of Things' from January 20 to 24.
NMAM Institute of Technology, Nitte is one of the 10 institutions selected to organize such an FDP in India. This FDP is recognized by AICTE at par with QIP for recognition/credits.
The inaugural function of the workshop was held on January 20. V S Ramesh, director, STEPS Knowledge Services Private Limited, India was the chief guest of the function. He highlighted the importance of hands-on training in the current education system. Dr Niranjan N Chiplunkar, in his presidential remarks, stressed on the need for interdisciplinary learning in engineering education. Dr Sanjeev Manhas, principal investigator, E&ICT Academy, IIT Roorkee addressed the participants through Skype and highlighted the scope of the FDP.
Dr Rekha Bhandarkar, HoD, department of Electronics and Communication Engineering and the convener of the FDP welcomed the gathering and highlighted the importance of IoT in the current context. Dr K S Shivaprakasha, organizing secretary briefed about the focus of the workshop. Shankari N, assistant professor, introduced the chief guest.
Durgaprasad, associate professor rendered the vote of thanks. Anirudh and Sarthak presented the invocation. Lavanya, assistant professor compered the programme.
