Mangaluru: Mangalore University initiates Skill Development programme

Mangaluru, Jan 20: The postgraduate department of social work, Mangalore University initiated the skill school programme for the School students (from 4th to 9th standard) around Mangalore University and Konaje Grama Panchayath.

The programme was inaugurated by professor P. Subrahmanya Yadapadithaya, vice chancellor, Mangalore University on Jan 17.

Inaugurating the programme the Vice Chancellor appreciated the initiative taken up by the 2nd year Social work student Divya Y G and for the support provided by Professor. Paul G Aquinas, Chairman, Department of Social work for launching this apt programme in order to develop the skills in extracurricular activities to the school students of Konaje Grama Panchayath on every Sunday .

The chief guest of the programme Sheena Shetty, former Ombudsman for MGNREGS, Swachhatha Diplomat, Dakshina Kannada District, wished Mangalore University to become a role model university for the nation and assured of complete support for the progamme.

The programme was presided over by Achutha Gatti, former memebr SDMC, Grama Panchayath member, Konaje. He wished the very best to the social work students for initiating the Skill School Programme.

The chairman of the Department Professor P.G. Aquinas explained the need of Skill School Programme at rural settings.

The other dignitaries attended the programme were Shree Dayananda Shetty, Member SDMC, Pramila, Headmistress, Government Higher Primary School, Kanaje, Shoba, Headmistress, Vishwamangala Higher Primary School, Shree Purushothama, Abdul Himan, President, Mangala Grama Yuvaka Sanga, Konaje, Hassainar Konaje, former member SDMC, Teaching faculty of Government Higher Primary School, Konaje, Faculty members, Post graduate students and non teaching staff of Social Work Department.

The school students of Government Higher Primary school actively participated in the programme.
