Kundapur, Jan 17: Upset that the voice of the elected people’s representatives is not valued, 13 of the 23 members of the Gangolli gram panchayat (GP) tendered mass resignation on Thursday, January 16.

The BJP supported gram panchayat members N Nagaraj Kharvi, Bairu Basava, Manthi Srinivas, P B Nagaraj Kharvi, Arun Poojary, Lalitha Kharvi, Nirmala Poojary, Sumitha Sherugar, Ambika Kharvi, Raja G P, Savithri, Prashanth Kharvi, Rekha Kharvi tendered their resignations.

In Gangolli, there were 23 BJP supported Gram Panchayat members and Srinivas Kharvi was elected as president. The members were allegedly upset that MLA Sukumar Shetty did not allot any funds for the gram panchayat. Even though the members met the MLA and requested funds for development, there was no use.

The members were also upset that gram panchayat president Srinivas Kharvi was neglecting their demands and they blamed him for being a puppet in the MLA’s hands. The members also discussed on meeting the MP but realised it was of no use. Upset, they decided to tender mass resignation as they feel their voices are not heard and as a result they do not have answers to the people who voted them to power.
