Mumbai, Jan 17: Expert in planting bombs in strategic location, infamous and notorious for his hand in numerous bomb blasts that have taken place in India, Dr Jalees Ansari (69) aka 'Dr Bomb' has gone missing from his residence in the city just a day before the parole of 21 days, which was granted to him by the Supreme Court was to end. He is sentenced to life imprisonment in the 1993 Rajasthan bomb blast case and was in prison since then.
A manhunt is on to locate and arrest this dangerous criminal. Mumbai police and Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and on their heels to apprehend Dr Jalees. According to the information given by his family members to the police, Dr Jalees left his home at Mominpura of Mumbai Central on the early morning of Thursday and did not return back.
Dr Jalees, who is a qualified MBBS doctor, was first arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in 1994 for his role in the bomb blast that occurred on the Rajdhani Express. Since then he was in jail. He is suspected to have a major role in more than 50 bomb blasts across India. He was convicted for life for his role in the blasts that occurred at six location of Rajasthan on December 5 and 6, 1993 and was serving life sentence in Ajmer prison.
