Mangaluru, Jan 15: A procession of 100 boats was taken out from Kotepura in Ullal to Adyar Kannur as a part of the anti-CAA protest rally planned by Muslim central committees of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts, that is going to take place on Wednesday, January 15.
People were seen in large numbers on two wheelers holding national flags and going towards the venue.
Security has been tightened across Mangaluru and nearby areas ahead of the protests.
Nearly 5,000 police personnel have been deployed across the city to ensure peace.
The heavy deployment of police follows the death of two people in police firing on December 19, after anti-CAA protesters had turned violent. More than 20 police personnel were also injured in the violence following the protests.
