The fact that the deputy commissioner of the district was given the work of supervising the progress of the project at a meeting held on December 31 presided over by MP, Nalin Kumar Kateel, appears to have worked wonders. A committee having NHAI project director, national highways executive engineer, PWD executive engineer and Mangaluru tahsildar is verifying progress on a day-to-day basis. The deputy commissioner holds meeting with the committee members every day and issues directions to the concerned.
Tahsildar of Mangaluru taluk Guruprasad, said that the committee appointed for the purpose is giving daily reports to the deputy commissioner, and the engineers appointed to the committee are checking quality of work. He said that the work is moving on a fast pace now.
The district administration is preparing to initiate legal measures against the project director of National Highways Authority of India and Navayuga director, if the work is not finished by the deadline given.
