Kolar, Jan 14: Two persons from the district, who are supposed to have provided shelter to Mehaboob Pasha, suspected terrorist arrested from Gundlupet in Chamarajanagar district, have been taken into custody by the Q branch police from Chennai.

The persons taken into custody have been identified as Mohammed Jahid (24) from Prashanth Nagar, Kolar, and Salim Khan (42) from Bidi Colony here. Both had been taken into possession by the Chennai Q branch police on January 3 but this information had been kept secret. The information came into the open after the arrested persons were remanded to judicial custody on Monday.

The locals said that both the arrested persons were brought here on Sunday for inspection of the house in which Mehaboob Pasha was sheltered. It is said that during the inspection, laptop containing incriminating information and some other documents belonging to Mehaboob were recovered.

As per reports, Mehaboob Pasha had been provided with safe accommodation in the town sometime back. He stayed in a dilapidated house located at the foot of the hill in the outskirts of Khadripura village for five days. He also used to convene meetings with the participation of local youth, it is said.

The local police did not know about the said arrests. It is said that these two persons maintained regular contact with Mehaboob and had also prepared some fake documents. They had made preparations to fly abroad on the basis of these documents, it is gathered.

Brother as suicide bomber: The police have realized that leader of the organized terrorist squads, Mehboob Khan, who had played a leading role to set off disruptive activities in the state, had made preparations to use his own brother as suicide bomber. Mansoor, who was close to Khwaja Mohammed from Tamil Nadu and Mehaboob Pasha from Bengaluru, used to put together youngsters who are mentally prepared for terrorist activities at the house of Mansoor at Goraguntepalya here. An officer said that he used to mentally prepare the young men for Jihadi activities. He also had instilled Jihadi ideals in the mind of his own younger brother, Mohammed Haneef Khan, a car driver by profession and prepared him for suicide in case of need for the sake of religion.
