Mangaluru, Jan 13: A student suffered serious injuries to his head after his scooter skidded off the road between Nanthoor and Mallikatte here, late night on Sunday, January 12. 

He was admitted into Wenlock hospital in the city where he was declared dead on arrival.

The deceased student was Mohammed Omar (18). He was a first year student of civil engineering degree course at St Joseph Engineering College, Vamanjoor here.

    The boy's two wheeler hit a stationery truck in front of Chefs, Kadri. I twas the mistake of the truck. Very often trucks park at that site, leading into inconvenience of other vehicles. Very sad to hear about this incident and may husband soul rest in peace!

    I agree negligence of truck driver but in the same way this student should be aware of driving in traffic.
    many people follow traffic rules in front of cops.. to avoid fine, they do not think rules are for safety of us.

    very sad to read this. Most of the time we parents are in helpless situation, boys are giving other friends examples. Everyone have bike in my class, I do not have, this is the slogan of most of the students.

    Parents giving kids Vehicles to drive also need to educate the hazards of Driving ,lots of safety videos on the net. This will save lives. Unfortunately accidents do not happen sadly they are caused.

    First safety is helmet then liquor we only blame the roads for the accidents 75%two wheelers driver drive helmet less. Wrong entry. Overspeeding . Triple ride. Driven by underage underage. No traffic manners and main problem traffic fines only RS 500

    Jossey sir,
    I don't think separate lane for two wheelers is not necessary now. If our MCC, is maintaining the roads properly and Traffic department and RTO do their duty honestly and signal lights in every junction, we can reduce the accident 100%. That what I believe.

    Our footpath should be of standard and no vehicles should be allowed to park on footpath. The footpath in Kadri opposite HDFC bank were there are a few shops and restaurants we see two and four wheelers parked on the footpath. There is no place for pedestrians. The police are not doing their job, only taking salary.

    Daily we read in news paper people are dying due to vehicle accidents. But nobody in the concerned department take this loss in person. Because of the age there may be some omissions while driving.. We have medicine for diseases but don't have solution for death by accidents and crimes. As we have seen so many accidents safety rules implemented immediately.
    A detailed Survey by independent agency isto be conducted and comprehensive report and recommendation is to be obtained for immediate solution for this great tragedy

    You are absolutely right. Hope people get the message and understand, bring a change . Delay giving bikes children until 20 plus, get more lessons, and take actual test and license. Hopefully young lives are saved.
