Kundapur, Jan 12: The police who are investigating the case in which a man and woman consumed poison while returning to Udupi after visiting Kollur have found that the two were not married to each other. The 18-month-old male baby found in their company happens to be Sangeetha's son.
Sangeetha (28) is recovering in Wenlock Hospital at Mangaluru whereas Rajkumar (35) died. The two were found to have become unconscious in a bus after consuming poison on January 9. The baby has fully recovered.
The personnel of the rural police station here, who undertook investigation, found that both were married and have separate families. Rajkumar is survived by wife, two daughters, and a son. Sangeetha has a son and a daughter, the police have informed.
Rajkumar was a migrant labourer who visited Udupi often. Both Rajkumar and Sangeetha belong to Coimbatore and had arrived at Udupi a day before they attempted suicide. Sangeetha told the police that inspite of her resistance, Rajumar made her and her son to consume poison mixed with liquor before they boarded a bus going to Mangaluru at Kollur.
In the meantime, Rajukumar's elder brother came here and claimed the body. Sangeetha's husband and father too have come here.
