Mysuru, Jan 10: University of Mysore registrar Prof R Shivappa, has filed a complaint about a placard seeking 'Free Kashmir' which was displayed during the protest organized by several student organizations inside the Manasa Gangotri premises of the university on Thursday January 9. The said protest was held to condemn attacks on students of Jawaharlal Nehru University at New Delhi on Wednesday January 8 evening.
In addition, police constable of Jayalaxmipuram station Mahendra, also has registered a complaint.
The complaint says that The University of Mysore Research Scholars Association president, Maridevaiah, and others had displayed placards. The Jayalaxmipuram police have submitted first information report on the incident in the fourth additional civil court here.
University of Mysore Dalit Students Union, Research Scholars Association, Bahujan Vidyarthi Sangha, Students Federation of India, and All India Democratic Students Organization had held this protest where 'Free Kashmir' placard was spotted.
The organizers had not informed the police about the protest in advance. All of a sudden, at 6.30 pm on Wednesday, they crowded near the clock tower at Manasa Gangotri and took out torch procession till the statue of Kuvempu at the main gate. A verification of photos and videos revealed that a person was holding 'Free Kashmir' placard. Mahendra has sought legal action against Maridevaiah and others who led this protest.
