Mangaluru, Jan 9: Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS), through a memorandum, has urged the government to take strict action against writers and publishers of indecent books about Swatantryaveer Savarkar and to place blanket ban on such works all over the country. It also termed the enmity of Congressmen at Savarkar as depicting the opposition of that party to the very revolutionary movement of Savarkar.
The Samiti said that the book, 'Veer Savarkar - Kitne Veer' distributed at the training camp of Congress Sevadal at Bhopal, contains derogatory, false stories aimed at whipping up hatred towards Savarkar. "This gives an indication about the extent to which the Congress can stoop to insult freedom warriors. We ardently hope that not only Savarkar, none of the national heroes or revolutionaries are insulted in this manner. Therefore the central government has to formulate a law immediately. The book distributed by Congress leaders apparently aims at creating communal and caste-based unrest in the country. The above book should be banned forthwith and its writer and publishers should be acted against strictly," demanded state spokesperson of the committee, Mohan Gowda.
"What does Congress want to achieve by claiming that revolutionaries used to have sexual relationship with people of the same sex, they stoned the mosques and raped women from minorities? Such Congress meets can disturb social harmony. A noble human being and nationalist like Savarkar is being insulted publicly. Any sundry person comes out and questions Savarkar's character. This is nothing but spewing venom at revolutionary movement and therefore, this objectionable book should be banned immediately. The writers and publishers should be acted against strictly," demanded Gowda.
Gowda noted that an inexcusable and intolerable act of character assassination of Savarkar cannot be tolerated and therefore strict action should be taken against the concerned. Towards addressing the insults being hurled at Savarkar, highest civilian award, 'Bharat Rana' should be conferred on him immediately, he demanded.
The memorandum was submitted to deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada Sindhu B Rupesh. District vice president of Sri Ram Sene Harish Shetty Bokkkapatna, Sri Ram Sene city vice president Venkatesh Padiyar, leaders Agneya, Satish, Hindu Mahasabha state general secretary Rajesh Pavitran, Praveen, Shashidhar Baliga, Vishwanath Bondel, Sullia, Hindu Janajagruti Samiti Shaktinagar leader Prabhakar Nayak, Upendra Acharya, Mangiram, Rekha Shet of Sanatan Sanstha, Leelavathi Nayak, Prameela MP etc were present.
