Mangaluru, Jan 8: The Indians from coastal Karnataka working in the Gulf are jittery about the chances of escalating of tensions between Iran and USA in the Gulf region robbing their livelihood. They are particularly concerned about the warning issued by Iran that it will seek revenge against Iraq and Kuwait, neighbouring states, which have allowed USA to set up war bases.
While it cannot be predicted whether the two nations will engage themselves in war or not, the defiant worlds being exchanged by them have spoiled the atmosphere. Many reportedly have been converting their savings into US $ currency, an entrepreneur from Kuwait stated. Because, Dollars will come in handy if they are forced to leave the Gulf region abruptly, a man from the Gulf region said by way of clarification.

Iran has said that USA has deployed 3,500 of its forces in Kuwait. It has also vowed to take revenge against the USA. Most of the workers from Udupi, Mangaluru and Kerala coast are working in oil, gas and power generation unit maintenance divisions. As of now, if the government sources are to be believed, there is no immediate threat to them.
