Mangaluru, Jan 8: Mangalore University, Kanakadasa Research Centre in Association with Language and Literary Club of Sharada College organized, 'Kanaka Thathvachintane Pracharopanyasa Malike: 2019/20' at Haridasa Mandira, Devinagara, Talapady.
This programme is a series of lectures taking place in three phases in three different colleges. The primary objective of the programme is to introduce the walk of life of Kanakadasa to young minds.
The resource person of the day was Manjula Subramanya, director of Natyaranga, Puttur. She said, “The words of Kanakadasa run deep and when analyzed carefully they work out as the blueprint for daily living. It can lift us up both in times of happiness and sadness alike.”
Dr Dhananjaya Kumble, director of Kanakadasa Research Centre gave the chief note address. In his speech, he posed questions, “Why should we remember a person who lived three centuries back? Is there any relevance of his life to modern times? He said, "Faith is the bridge that sheds all superiority and ego when a believer stands in front of God. Kanakadasa is the mirror of this walk cycle.”
In the presidential address, Dr Kabbinale Balakrishna Bharadwaj, principal of Sharada Degree College highlighted, “The life, the works and the very exemplary life of Kanakadasa would go down not only to centuries but many ages. His role was not to extort long speeches but walk the talk by his very life. May we all lead a life that can build a humane society."
Kavya Samani compered the programme, Bhavyalatha, department of English, welcomed the gathering, Charanraj proposed the vote of thanks and staff members and students graced the programme by their presence.
