Panaji, Jan 8: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday stopped his carcade to attend to a person who had met with an accident at Khandepar near Ponda town, 35 km away from here.

“The chief minister instructed the driver to stop the carcade when he saw a person who had fallen by the roadside,” one of the officials from the chief minister’s office said.

Sawant is a doctor by profession.

The person riding a two-wheeler had met with an accident and lay in a pool of blood.

“One of the escort vehicles of the chief minister was used to shift him to a nearby state-run hospital in Ponda town,” CMO said.

The chief minister was on his way to attend the sugarcane growers who are currently agitating against the state government’s failure to lift their produce.
