Beltangady, Jan 8: Two ladies employed at Bengaluru visited Kakkinje in the taluk on Monday January 6, searching for a young man who had cheated them.
A Muslim man from Kakkinje was employed at Bengaluru. A Hindu lady from Sorab too was working there. The two had become good friends. The youth, misusing the trust the lady had reposed in him, went missing, duly taking away the lady's money and mobile phone. The lady, along with a Muslim lady from Raichur who happens to be her friend, came to Kakkinje. They were accompanied by two Muslim youngsters. But they learnt that the youth who had cheated the lady had escaped to Kasargod.
In the meanwhile, the visitors parked their car near a mosque and the two men went into the mosque for ablutions. Curious locals started questioning the two ladies who remained seated inside the car. It is said that in response, one among the ladies talked to them callously. The people got angry at her behaviour and informed the police. This matter came to the knowledge of local Hindu organization, members of which approached the young men and took them to task.
The police thereafter summoned all the four to the police station and gave them some advice. The parents of the ladies arrived on Tuesday morning and took them away.
