Bengaluru, Jan 7: Education minister Suresh Kumar has withdrawn the decision of holding public exams for students of seventh standard of the state of Karnataka.
Suresh Kumar held a press conference in the city on Tuesday, January 7 and said, "The education department has decided to general valuation examination instead of public examination. All are scared by the very name of public exams. Even the students got panicked. So the education department has changed its decision.
"In this general valuation examination no student will be failed. The intention of this examination is to know the level of grasping of the student and give training accordingly from eighth standard.
"Question paper for the general valuation examination will be prepared at the state level. Exams will be conducted by the teachers of the respective schools only. Valuation will be done by the teachers of the same district. No student will be failed in the examination. The aim is to instil the self-confidence in students to face examination."
