Udupi, Jan 7: "I am very happy to hand over administration of Admar Math to my disciple. In compliance with my wishes, the junior Swamiji has agreed to ascend Paryaya 2020-22 throne and officiate this term. I will look after educational institutions under the Math and junior will be looking after the administration of Math and Sri Krishna Pooja services," Sri Vishwapriya Theerta Swamiji of Admar Math.
He was speaking to media persons at Admar base Math here on Monday, January 6.
"I will not participate in Paryaya rituals including the procession and Darbar programmes. But I will be here at that time. Whatever the religious rituals like Darbar in Aralu Gaddige will be performed in Badagu Malige in Krishna math. Now I will follow what my Guru preached to me. Like the way he guided me, I will support my junior to attend to all his duties and responsibilities. I will concentrate more on the development of educational institutions under the Math," he said.
In response to queries on rainwater harvesting system adopted in his Math, he said that there is acute shortage of water everywhere. "So we planned to have rainwater harvest system in the Math,” he clarified.
To a question on his role in the math during the two years of Paryaya period, he said, “I am following the path shown to me by my Guru, which he did. He gave me chance to serve Lord Krishna twice. Now let my disciple continue with it. It is my wish.”
Regarding pooja, he said, “There are 16 types of worships (poojas). The peethadhipathi has to perform these poojas, which he is supposed to do every day like Chamara Seve, Mahapooje and Avasara Sanakadi Pooja. We both together will perform the remaining pooja of Sri Krishna," he stated.
Sri Ishapriya Theerta Swamiji, who has been asked to officiate the Paryaya this time in place of his senior Swamiji, said that traditions and rituals have their own significance. They were stipulated by ancestors with purpose. Likewise there is meaning to Pallakki (palanquin), which is used to carry Swamiji with manual support during the Paryaya procession. When we understand the traditional practices, only then we will get to know their importance (message behind them). The earlier traditions will continue in the same way and I will try to continue things to the best of my abilities, to continue with things that are happening there in the Math like Bhajans, religious activities in the math etc. Some of the rituals have to be retained, because devotees want them to continue. There will be no specific plan to do, but I will do activities which are connected to nature and eco-friendly. I will do service according to the guidance of Guru Sri Vishwapriya theerta Swamiji," he added.
