Mangaluru, Jan 6: A day after former IAS officer Sasikanth Senthil tore into the union government over the controversial Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), supporters of the CAA led by the Ullal zone Rashtra Jagarana Samiti on Monday January 6 held an awareness campaign at Beeri, Kotekar near here and counter-attacked Senthil.
Senthil had said during a protest against CAA and NRC at Ullal that India would not be allowed to become a Hindu nation even in a thousand years, and that Indians will not remain quiet if politicians meddle with the Constitution. Counter-attacking Senthil, BJP Dakshina Kannada district spokesperson Vikas Puttur said on Monday that the 'Hindu nation' will continue to exist for the next thousand years.
"India is not the property of Sasikanth Senthil's father. The Hindu nation has always existed and will continue to do so for the next thousand years," he said.
The awareness campaign was held in support of Citizenship Amendment Act and to condemn the alleged propaganda, damage to property during protests, assaults on police and other acts of violence relating to the enforcement of the Act across the country.
Vikas Puttur further said, "Modi has enacted the Citizenship Amendment Act after he became Prime Minister for the second time in order to correct a historical wrong. We congratulate Modi and Amit Shah on it. While 95% of the people are for the Act, a small group is opposing. Those who do not know the details of the Act, such as Sasikanth Senthil who is trying to further his political ambitions, and U T Khader who does not believe in democracy at all, have come to the streets to protest.
"Pakistan which was bifurcated from the country has violated certain agreements and is ruling the country under Islamic law. While there were 27% Hindus in Pakistan in the past, they are only 2% at present. Similarly 30% Hindus in Bangadesh have reduced to 7% now. It has happened due to repeated atrocities, murders and conversions. Modi government has responded by giving citizenship to such people. The family of U T Khader opposes it.
"Congress people have become jobless after 2014. Opposing the schemes of BJP has become their job. Gandhiji had said during country’s partition that Hindus should be welcomed if they are unable to live in Pakistan. Nehru and Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel had supported him. But Khader's party which was founded by such party leaders is opposing such promises," he said.
"There is no connection between Citizenship Amendment Act and NRC. NRC is yet to be discussed. Its opponents are using Muslims as a weapon and causing disturbance. Parents know their son. Mindless people like Senthil and communal people like U T Khader are causing unrest in the society. Ivan D'Souza has gone to jump at Pumpwell," he said.
Defending the BJP over the delay in the completion of Pumpwell flyover, he said, "Pumpwell work has been delayed due to technical reasons. Those who could not bring about development for 70 years are not eligible to speak about Pumpwell work.
"There is no question of Hindus becoming afraid. Families of Khader and Senthil are not coming out to protests. Instead, they are provoking innocent people and pushing them forward. Give a missed call to 8866288662 and support the Citizenship Amendment Act," he urged.
BJP’s Mohan Raj K was present. Ashik Madoor compered the programme. Arjun Madoor welcomed. Ganesh rendered the vote of thanks.
