Bengaluru, Jan 5: BJP leader and Karnataka chief minister B S Yediyurappa on Sunday January 5 slammed Congress over the Citizenship Amendment Act and accused the party of creating 'confusion' among the Muslim community.
The statement was made by the CM while launching a door-to-door campaign by the BJP help clarify the Act and dispel rumours.
"Unnecessarily, the members of Congress are creating confusion among the Muslim community. I assure you that not a single Muslim will be affected because of CAA," said Yediyurappa.
"All the previous Prime Ministers have supported it, but Congress is creating unnecessary problems to create confusion among Muslims. That is why we are out on the door-to-door campaign," he added.
Ever since the CAA came into light, violent protests erupted across the nation. The Act seeks to grant Indian citizenship to Hindu, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist and Parsi refugees from Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh and who entered India on or before December 31, 2014.
On Sunday, BJP leaders across the state went around their constituencies to create awareness on the Citizenship Amendment Act as part of the party's nationwide outreach programme to meet people and garner support for the Act.
