Belagavi, Jan 5: The police have found out the mother of a newborn who had been abandoned inside the school toilet after giving birth to it. The mother had gone missing after delivering the baby inside the school toilet.

A girl student of the government high school at Adahalli had delivered this baby. The police have since arrested the assistant teacher of the school who was behind the student's pregnancy. The name of the arrested teacher has been given as Bheemappa Kumbar from Kohalli.

The police registered a case based on statements made by the student and her parents. The teacher was arrested under the provisions of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. He was produced in the court whereupon he was remanded to judicial custody.

A tenth standard girl student who got impregnated by the teacher of her school had given birth to a baby girl inside the toilet of the high school on December 28, 2019. She had escaped thereafter. The other children who went searching for the source of the crying baby's voice found it inside the toilet. The baby was rescued thereafter.

The headmaster of the high school said that the girl student attended the school regularly but no one noticed that she was pregnant.
